Arresting Minorities For Marijuana Possession Is THE Top Priority In NYC

In 2010 alone, 50,383 people were arrested in NYC for marijuana possession, according to the Drug Policy Alliance group.  86 percent of those arrested since 2002 were Black or Latino with 70 percent being under 30 years old.  Although research shows that White people use marijuana at much higher rates.

But you would be surprised to know that when the cops ask you to empty your pockets, you actually don't have to.  If they do a full search where you are required to empty your pockets, it must be because of probable cause because they think you have a weapon.  So if the cops randomly stops you to request you to empty your pockets and you're doing nothing illegal, all you have to say is, "Am I under arrest?"  If not, then you can go on your merry way.

So far there have been no studies on how many minorities have been beaten, shot, maimed or arrested unlawfully for asking this question, so please don't hold us accountable for what may or may not happen if you do ask.

Take a guess why this is happening in New York.  You guessed it, "It's Because You're Black!"
